Farmer's Almanac Predicts A Snowy Winter
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Since 1792 farmers have had one eye on the sky and the other on the Old Farmer's Almanac to get an idea what kind of weather they'll be facing. In spite of today's technology, millions still consult the book. So what does this winter look like?
"Here in the Philadelphia area, we're forecasting for above normal snowfall and near normal temperatures," Editor of the Farmer's Almanac Janice Stillman says. "In fact, the first significant snowfall should come just before Christmas and leave you with a white holiday."

And Stillman says you better keep that shovel handy.
"And then we're expecting a slippery, sliding New Years. January will slightly be above normal temps with some flurries and some rain, but look out because the winter comes in with a big blast a blizzard at the end of the month. And following that a big chill because every month after that will be below normal temperatures with some snow in February and some snow in March."
She expects temperatures to stay low right through the Spring.
