On The Verge... Of Rollins Leaving?
By Lesley Van Arsdall
It is amazing to think that with a win tonight the Phillies will set a franchise record for victories, with 102. (note: The Philadelphia Athletics reached 102 wins in 1910 and 1930)
In a season in which Charlie would become the teams all-time winningest manager. Quite a feat.
Yet, it seems Jimmy Rollins' thoughts are elsewhere.
Rolllins says he wants a five year deal and if the Phillies don't want to give it to him, he has no problem going somewhere else. He told Sports Illustrated "I've been here since I was 17. I never thought of going anywhere else. But, am I afraid to leave? Not at all."
Rollins has always been a vocal player, but the timing of this seems off. Shouldn't he be focussed on the playoffs?
