Philadelphia Man Charged In Several Violent Crimes Will Face Murder Trial

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -  A 21-year-old Fishtown man has been ordered to stand trial, charged with shooting a police officer, committing a murder, shooting and wounding two more officers before he was arrested, and then plotting to escape from custody with a homemade shiv.

Defendant Nasuil Martinez had already been ordered to trial for the police shootings and the alleged escape plot, and now a judge has found enough evidence to hold him for trial for the murder of 38-year-old Carlos Fernandez.

"Mr. Fernandez was shot three times, two in the back," says prosecutor Brian Zarallo.  "There doesn't appear to be any signs of a struggle, and the evidence will show this home invasion robbery for what appears to be the simplest motive around: just greed."

Authorities say Martinez later photographed himself wearing the earrings and watch he stole from the victim -- and that picture has been shown in court (see below).
