Philly Gears Up For Oktoberfest

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - We may ring in October a week from now, but this weekend marks Oktoberfest around here. First there is a midmorning parade along Frankford Avenue in the northeast, followed by a weekend of revelry in Trevose, Bucks County.

You don't have to cross the Atlantic to get a taste of German culture. Just head to the United German-Hungarian Club on Bristol Road. Bill Galgon is president of the organization.

"It's your standard Oktoberfest with German bands, Schuhplatter dancing and beer and Bratwurst and all the good stuff that goes with an Oktoberfest."

This is the group's major fundraiser and has taken on greater importance given the club's shrinking membership over the years, which is now pegged at about 500. Admission is $5 at the door, and the event is on rain or shine all weekend.
