PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The Opera Company of Philadelphia presents “Carmen” at the Academy of Music with an all-star cast. Bizet’s iconic story of passion, romance, and betrayal runs from September 30th through October 14th, with a free special event on opening night.
“We’re excited about the simulcast that’s going on for Carmen on opening night; they’re broadcasting the opera live on Independence Mall,” explains Academy of Vocal Arts alumna Ailyn Perez, who plays the “good” girl.
“It’s a great, feverish, frenzied love story between Carmen and Don José,” Perez explains. “And my character, Micaëla, has a crush on Don José probably since her childhood. And of course Carmen is the femme fatale of opera.”
To register for your free tickets to the simulcast, or for more information or tickets to the performances, visit operaphila.org.
