PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – There are new developments coming to North Broad Street.
Karin Lewis, Executive Director of Avenue of the Arts, says they will be adding aesthetic light fixtures to North Broad Street.
“These are very slender stainless steel iconic light mast and we’ve been told that this has never been done in an urban environment before and so it makes it pretty unique to North Broad Street.”
She says they are also working with a landscape architect to improve the greenery.
“We will be planting approximately 200 or so trees. There are trees there, it’s about 39 blocks from city hall to Glenwood Avenue.”

Lewis also says that portion of Broad Street is also called Avenue of the Arts. So, how do you distinguish between the portion north of city hall versus south of city hall?
“Well, I always say it’s Avenue of the Arts, it’s one street and there’s a unique character North and South. But, I think a lot of the folks on North Broad Street like to say Avenue North.”
