Vick's Status For Giants Game Up In The Air

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - One day after the Eagles lost to Atlanta 35-31 down in Georgia, the team updated the status of quarterback Michael Vick.

Eagles head trainer Rick Burkholder said Vick appeared to be doing well after suffering his concussion against the Falcons. Vick is now spending the day resting at home.

"I was with him on the airplane, he was absolutely fine last night. We have not seen him today yet and that's part of our protocol - rest is one of the most vital things we can give him."

Neither Burkholder, nor Eagles coach Andy Reid would say if Vick would be available to play next Sunday. But both said they will follow league protocol concerning concussions.

Mike Kafka replaced the injured Vick last night and went 7-9 for 72 yards.

Reid says he was pleased with how the second-year quarterback filled in, but also said it wasn't a surprise.

"I would have never traded Kevin Kolb if I didn't have trust in Mike Kafka," Reid said.

The Eagles host the Giants on Sunday afternoon in their home opener.
