College Football: West Chester Set For Home Opener vs. Slippery Rock

WEST CHESTER, Pa. (CBS) - After two tough trips to start the season, West Chester University will be home on Saturday to host Slippery Rock in its home opener.

The Golden Rams (0-2) opened the season with a heartbreaking loss at New Haven, then this past week gave Delaware all they could handle down in Newark, losing 28-17.

"We played them pretty tough," says West Chester head coach Bill Zwaan.  "Our kids played hard.  It's still a loss, but I was pretty happy with our effort."

As for Slippery Rock, they are 2-0 heading into Saturday, and Zwaan says they have earned that undefeated mark:

"They are averaging over 50 points a game after two games, so they are pretty good.  They ran the ball well on us last year, and they still have a pretty good run attack.  Pretty big offensive line -- that's kind of the way they've always been built: big offensive lines, good running back.  Defensively, a bunch of good, tough, physical football players."

Last year these two teams battled at Slippery Rock, the Golden Rams falling 33-27 in overtime.

Kickoff on Saturday is set for 1:00pm.
