Healthy Diet Can Help Fight Cancer

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The studies vary in complexity and design but there is no doubt that diet can have an impact on different forms of cancer.

There are certain foods you can eat to help you in the battle with cancer. For instance, fish. Fish is high in omega-3 fatty acids. It is recommended that you try for two to three servings each week.

Another source of protection is fruit. If you want a good rule of thumb, if fruits are bright and colorful, they're probably better for you. As for vegetables, we recommend cruciferous vegetables. Broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage are all cancer fighters. It is best to eat them slightly steamed and you should shoot for five servings a week. Again, this is very important information because what we are starting to realize is, not only can healthy food help you with cancer but it helps when it comes to heart disease as well.
