WILLINGBORO, N.J. (CBS) - What’s believed to be mold has been discovered in three Willingboro District schools, but only one of them has been closed so far.
The suspected mold was discovered in Willingboro High School (photo), Memorial Middle School, and JC Stuart Elementary School.
Dr. Ronald Taylor, superintendent of the district, says the lower schools are open, with the rooms in question sealed off, while the high school was shut down completely.
“The problem potentially could put folks at risk, so we closed that school down for five days until we get air quality checks back,” he told KYW Newsradio today.
In the meantime, the superintendent says, he’d rather err on the side of caution.
“I wouldn’t want my child to be in a building that had a potentially serious mold issue. We can make up days, but we have to do what’s best for everyone’s health and safety up front,” he said.
