Father, Son Struck By Vehicle In Northeast Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -A father and son are recovering at area hospitals after being struck by a vehicle Monday morning in Northeast Philadelphia.

The accident happened a little before noon at the Cottman Avenue and Horrocks Street intersection.

According to authorities, the father ran after his 4-year-old boy who darted into oncoming traffic.

The child was taken to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children where he is listed in critical condition with a serious head injury, police said. The father was transported to Einstein Medical Center in stable condition with a broken leg.

Authorities say the driver of the vehicle stopped at the location. No charges have been filed at this time.

Philadelphia police are investigating.
