SHANKSVILLE, PA — Saturday, September 10, 2011 – The NEW Talk Radio 1210’s Michael Smerconish is hosting 400 listeners, as they board 8 buses on Saturday morning, September 10th at 5:30am from the Plymouth Meeting Mall (500 W. Germantown Pike, Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462) to visit and take part in the dedication of the first phase of the Flight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville, PA.
This is Smerconish’s fourth visit to the Flight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. The site is the final resting place of the heroic passengers and crew of Flight 93 who gave their lives on September 11th, 2001. Musical tributes, observances and other activities will take place that day to honor the 40 heroes who lost their lives aboard United Flight 93 on September 11, 2001.
Smerconish says “I know it’s often difficult to give up a Saturday, especially with the summer coming to an end and the kids heading back to school, sports and other activities. But I hope you’ll be able to join me on a trip across Pennsylvania to dedicate this hallowed memorial, and to celebrate the lives and honor the heroism of the 40 passengers and crew aboard Flight 93.”
Scheduled to speak at the Flight 93 National Memorial dedication this Saturday include former Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush along with Vice President Joe Biden, Speaker of the House John Boehner along with Flight 93 family members. Also attending will be former first lady Laura Bush, Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar, National Park Service Director Jon Jarvis and Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett. Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Sarah McLachlan will perform at the dedication ceremony on Saturday.
