The 10th Annual 98.1 WOGL Loves Our Kids Radiothon Benefiting The Children’s Hospital Of Philadelphia Kicks Off Friday
PHILADELPHIA, Pa.(CBS) –- September 9th -September 10th – The 98.1 WOGL Loves Our Kids Radiothon benefiting Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia kicks off Friday, September 9th at 5:30AM. Pledges and donations raised during the two-day event benefit patient care programs at Children’s Hospital. Over the past nine years, 98.1 WOGL has raised more than $4.3 million for The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
In it’s 10th year, the 98.1 WOGL Loves Our Kids Radiothon will be broadcast live from a brand new location-Ryan Seacrest’s “The Voice” studios located in the Colket Atrium of Children’s Hospital. The Radiothon is anchored by WOGL-FM’s Breakfast Club Host Ross Brittain and co-host Valerie Knight with special appearances by the entire WOGL airstaff. CBS 3’s Nicole Brewer will also be live at the hospital on Friday morning taking pledges.
During the 2-day broadcast, the Colket Atrium will be buzzing with games, crafts and live entertainment for CHOP’s patients and families. Special guest appearances throughout both days include CBS 3’s Nicole Brewer, Bob Kelly, Pat Ciarrocchi, Jim Donovan, Stephanie Stahl, Natasha Brown and others. Special activities for kids include tie dying socks, decorate your room crafts and crowns with local Miss America title holders.
The Radiothon will wrap up Saturday, September 10th, culminating with a check presentation from 98.1 WOGL to Children’s Hospital at 6:45PM. Harvey Holiday extends the fundraising as he hosts a very special edition of his “Streetcorner Sunday” show on Sunday, September 11th at 9pm. It’s a mini-Radiothon asking listeners to donate and become a “Holiday’s Hero”. Harvey’s total last year was close to $55,831 in this one special night.
Funds raised through Children’s Miracle Network are earmarked at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia for patient care programs. These programs provide constant support for the kinds of services that truly make a difference in the lives of children and families. Support groups, creative arts therapies and social workers are all part of the healing process. These services are offered to every child who visits Children’s Hospital, and these are among the many programs that CMN funds help make possible.
