Heavy Rain Poses Flood Risk In New Jersey

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) -- Motorists are facing delays after remnants from Tropical Storm Lee produced heavy rain that flooded many streets and highways around New Jersey Thursday.

Flash flooding followed thunderstorms that pounded communities along the Delaware River with downpours and lightning. Sections of Routes 29, 73 and 130 -- all near the Delaware River and its tributaries—are among those closed.

The National Weather Service reports the Raritan and Passaic Rivers, which forced residents into shelters last week, could also flood.

The rain is not expected to end until Friday.
