Avalon Welcomes World Trade Center Artifact Ahead Of Remembrance Ceremony

AVALON, N.J. (CBS) – The Borough of Avalon welcomed an artifact from the World Trade Center during a special ceremony held Thursday evening.

Avalon Mayor Martin Pagliughi presided over a solemn ceremony which was held at the Avalon Public Safety Building at 31st Street and Dune Drive.

According to city officials, the artifact will be on display on Sunday, September 11th at Noon, and a special remembrance ceremony will be held at the future site of the permanent memorial dedicated to the victims and their families of the 9/11 attacks.

The site also serves as a tribute to the first responders from Avalon, NJ and others who responded to New York City, The Pentagon and Pennsylvania.
