Delaware Lifts Level 2 Driving Restriction & Mandatory Evacuations

WILMINGTON, Del. (CBS) -- Effective immediately, the Governor, after consulting with state and local emergency officials, is reducing the Level 2 driving restriction in Delaware to a Level 1 driving warning.

Roads in some parts of the state are closed due to flooding or tree blockages and people may not be able to reach their destinations.

The Governor is also removing the mandatory evacuation and closure of businesses for all areas in which it had been in effect, effective immediately.

However, some communities, especially along the Delaware Bay in Sussex and Kent counties, are inaccessible due to flooding.

A limited state of emergency will remain in effect for the purpose of some cleanup activities.
