PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The Phillies have placed another key squad member on the shelf. A day after placing shortstop Jimmy Rollins on the 15-day disabled list (see related story), the Phillies now have placed lefthander Cole Hamels on the disabled list with shoulder inflammation.
The move is retroactive to August 13th.
The inflammation is no secret, as Hamels did not make his last start in Washington. The Phillies say he is scheduled to start on August 29th in Cincinnati; that would be the day after he is eligible to come off the disabled list.
To take Hamels’ spot on the roster, utilityman Pete Orr has been recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
