BLACKWOOD, N.J. (CBS) – An elderly driver suffered injuries after the car she was driving crashed through the front glass lobby of a bank in Camden County.
The incident happened at about 11:15 a.m. Monday at the TD Bank located at 601 College Drive in Blackwood, New Jersey.
The 76-year-old driver told police she pressed the brake pedal, but the car for some reason accelerated, causing the car to go up over the curb and into the lobby of the bank.
No customers or employees inside the bank were injured, but the driver suffered minor cuts from broken glass as she exited her car. She was treated by EMTs at the scene and refused further medical attention.
A Gloucester Township building inspector surveyed the building and determined that no major structural damage occurred as a result of the crash.
No charges have been filed at this time. The crash remains under police investigation.

yeah, the “some reason” the car accelerated was because she stepped on the accelerator, not the brake….

My heart goes out to this lady. I bet she was a responsible and safe driver for years. But it’s a shame (and was, potentially, a tragedy) that she didn’t lose her license by failing a test a few years ago. Without mandatory retesting, every motorist is a ticking time bomb.
