SMYRNA, Del. (AP) — Delaware State Police say a man was killed when the car he was riding in collided with a tractor on Route 13 in Smyrna.

It happened Friday about 1:45 a.m. Troopers say a tractor-trailer driven by 30-year-old Cody Campbell of Trout Run, Pa., was traveling north on Route 13. Police say it hit a car trying to make a left turn driven by 23-year-old James Sommer of Townsend.

A passenger in Sommer’s car, 22-year-old Brett Ellis of Smyrna, was pronounced dead at the scene. Sommer was taken a local hospital with multiple injuries. Campbell was not hurt.
