Rescue Crews Save Teen Trapped By Storm Waters In Atlantic County

COLLINGS LAKE, N.J. (CBS) - Rescue crews were called out to Collings Lake in Atlantic County Monday evening after reports that storm waters trapped a man in a tree.

Local fire departments and medics arrived at the scene along Route 322 to find the unidentified 17-year-old male clinging to a tree. The current was too strong for rescue personnel to enter the water safely. It ended up taking about an hour for the teen to be pulled to safety.

Eyewitnesses said the teen was trying to cross the water when the current swept him away. They said he was trapped for about an hour and a half.

He was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
