Former U.S. Senate Candidate Christine O'Donnell Addresses `Witch' Ad In New Book

NEW YORK (AP) -- Former U.S. Senate candidate Christine O'Donnell says she never wanted to make the campaign commercial in which she assured voters that she was "not a witch."

The Delaware Republican makes the admission in a new book, in which she also blames members of her own party for undermining her campaign.

The ad was prompted by questions about an appearance years ago on a late-night talk show, where she said she had "dabbled" in witchcraft as a teenager. O'Donnell blames an insistent media consultant for the commercial and her own inability to put her foot
down.

O'Donnell's candidacy was backed by tea party enthusiasts, but drew opposition from some Republican Party leaders.

The book "Troublemaker: Let's Do What It Takes to Make America Great Again" is scheduled to go on sale Aug. 16.
