Kids With Disabilities 'Lose The Training Wheels' At St. Joe's

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A camp for youngsters with disabilities is taking place this week at St. Joseph's University. It's the second year the "Lose The Training Wheels" program is being held in Philadelphia.

Participants of the program were riding bikes with the help of a volunteer jogging alongside as well as a rolling system which replaced the back wheel to help campers gain balance. A portion of the hardware resembles a rolling pin.

Eric Devlin, 10, of West Chester is autistic and made it clear why he was there.

"I like girls. And I came into the program to ride my bike too... so that's two reasons."

Organizers say the program helps kids build self-confidence.  80-percent of the participants are expected to ride a two-wheel bike on their own by end of the five-day program on Friday.
