BLOG: Hot & Humid To Start The Week

By Justin Drabick

It was a comfortable start to the weekend, but now the heat and humidity have returned. Dew point temperatures, which measure the moisture content in the atmosphere, are very high right now in the low 70s.

When dew points are in the 70s, it feels very uncomfortable. Today was a good day to hang out by the pool or in the air conditioning. A weak cold front moving through PA tonight is triggering off a few scattered showers and thunderstorms this evening.

Some heavy downpours are possible with the high humidity. We will see a dry but warm and muggy start to the day on Monday. There will be some sunshine and slightly lower humidity as the winds switch northwesterly. With another cold front approaching, there will be a chance for an isolated storm in the afternoon.

It will be hot with highs in the low 90s. The front remains stalled along the east coast on Tuesday, allowing for a wave of low pressure to ride along it and bring another chance for a few storms Tuesday afternoon. High son Tuesday will be slightly cooler in the upper 80s.

The front begins to move farther east on Wednesday allowing for slightly less humid conditions than on Tuesday with highs again in the upper 80s.

Very nice weather returns to the forecast on Thursday as an area of high pressure moves over the northeast. This will provide a very comfortable air mass with low humidity and sunshine on Thursday and Friday. Highs both days will be in the mid 80s. Temperatures and humidity levels climb a bit for next weekend with some storm chances Sat night and Sunday, as of now. Have a great week!
