Columnist Pens Memoir On Life In Glenside

GLENSIDE, Pa. (CBS) - A Montgomery County columnist and author is hoping to take advantage of the nostalgia kick with a new book about growing up in the mid-20th century in Glenside.

Ted Taylor has written numerous newspaper columns over the years recalling events and memories of his formative years growing up in the Montgomery County community. Now, he's put them in a book called The Glenside Kid which takes a humorous look at life in simpler times and a return trip to some hangouts that no longer exist.

Taylor believes the nostalgia will strike a chord with readers throughout the area, "I think it's a chance to return to what you perceive to be better days. I think we tend to forget the bad times and remember the good times and it's always comforting to look back and say yeah, that was really good."

His concern is that the younger generation won't have the memories that he has of playing outdoors with his friends because kids now spend their time in front of computers and video games and listening to iPods.
