PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The overnight duty captain of the 39th police district was on patrol just before 4:00 a.m. Sunday morning in Hunting Park when his marked police cruiser was struck from behind by a hit and run driver.
The police officer suffered minor injuries while the driver remains at large.
The driver of the striking car made a u-turn onto Hunting Park Avenue and sped off. The minor crash happened at the intersection of Clarissa Street and Hunting Park Avenue.
The captain, identified as Steve Glenn, was checked out for complaints of aches and pains at Temple University Hospital.
Police say the hit and run driver was in a tan van.
