BLOG: Eagles, Phillies Go All In

By Lesley Van Arsdall

What a week to be a sports fan here in Philly.

It's easy to get caught up in the excitement of all the Eagles' wheeling and dealing, but they need to straighten things out with DeSean Jackson who is still holding out for a new contract. The team's other top wide receiver, Jeremy Maclin, is also absent from training camp -- battling a mysterious illness.

According to the new CBA, players holding out and not reporting to camp by August 9th will loose a year of accrued service. Rumor has Jackson coming to Lehigh with or without a new deal within the next few days.

That said, the Eagles dug deep into their pockets and landed the top player in free agency, and picked up a couple of other Pro-Bowlers along the way.

Eagles fans should still be smiling.

Meanwhile, the Phillies added an All-Star and that much talked about right-handed bat to the lineup. And they have the best record in baseball.

Clearly, both teams have gone all in. Let's hope they hit the jackpot with two parades. One in October, the other in February.
