Hundreds Attend Job Fair For Military Vets In South Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Veteran-friendly employers opened their arms today to returning troops and other vets, during the latest of a series of jobs fairs for veterans at Lincoln Financial Field.

Tom Manion of Levittown was there doing recon.

"I get off active duty in January.  I'm just getting out to meet people, network, and learn from this," he told KYW Newsradio.

"I have eight units reporting directly to me right now," says Manion, an executive officer who manages a staff that does IT and logistics.

Another attendee with an impressive résumé was John Terrell, a retired Marine colonel who lives in central Pennsylvania.

"Thirty years in the Marine Corps, executive management level experience, I've also been a program manager for the last three years on the civilian side," he said.

Mark Briley of West Philadelphia (below right) was wearing his Desert Storm hat.

"I served my country and now I'm hoping my country will open up a door and a way for me to get employed," Briley said.

A wide array of vendors from a variety of fields, including Cummins Power Systems of Bristol, NMS Labs of Willow Grove, Drexel University, Lincoln Technical Institute, Amtrak, and Amazon were there to conduct interviews and take part in networking.
