Woman Suffers Fractured Hip After Being Hit By Train In Center City

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A woman was taken to the hospital with several injuries after being hit by a train in Philadelphia early Wednesday morning.

The incident happened at about 8:30 a.m. at Suburban Station at 16th Street and JFK Boulevard in Center City.

According to police, the 65-year-old woman was somehow struck by a SEPTA train near track 4 inside the station.

The woman was rushed by paramedics to Hahnemann University Hospital. She suffered a fractured hip and lacerations to her head and is listed in critical but stable condition.

It was not immediately known if the woman fell or jumped from the train platform.

The incident remains under investigation.
