Philadelphia Man Charged With Murdering Girlfriend and Setting Fire To Her Home

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A Frankford man is under arrest, charged in the murder of his girlfriend -- a mother of two -- whose body was found early Monday morning in her burned-out home in East Mount Airy with her throat cut.

Philadelphia police picked up 32-year-old Donald Newsome of the 1600 block of Brill Street yesterday.

Authorities say he slashed the throat of 27-year-old Rosalyn Daniels in her house, along the 1200 block of East Cliveden Street, and then set the place on fire (see related story).

Police say it happened after an argument; family members say Daniels wanted to break up with Newsome.

Daniels' young son and daughter were not in the home at the time of the killing or the blaze.

Newsome was being held without bail as he awaits a preliminary hearing, set for August 10th.
