Deadly East Mount Airy Fire Probed As Homicide

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Philadelphia police say the discovery of a woman's body following a house fire early Monday morning is being investigated as a homicide.

The fire started shortly after midnight inside a home in the 1200 block of E. Cliveden Street in the city's East Mount Airy section.

According to investigators, after firefighters extinguished the blaze, the body of 27-year-old Rosalyn Daniels was found inside the home. Daniels reportedly had lacerations to her neck.

Family members told Eyewitness News that they are certain that Daniels was murdered.

"It was foul play and hopefully they catch him," the victim's sister Bernetta Sutter said.

Investigators say the victim's 2002 gold Chevrolet Impala with a Pennsylvania license plate HRE-3057 is currently missing.

Family members said Daniels was a mother a two and those children were with the victim's mother vacationing in Florida.

The investigation is ongoing.
