Fifth Death Due To Extreme Heat Recorded In Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Philadelphia Health Department spokesman Jeff Moran says a 67-year-old year old man whose identity was not released was found dead inside his closed up Germantown home Saturday.

The medical examiner officially listed the cause of death as cardio-vascular disease and heat.

Moran says the man's home windows were all closed; the home had no fans and no air conditioning.

The Saturday death was the first resulting from the current heat wave and the fifth of the 2011 summer season in the city.
