Health Watch: Local Emergency Room Reality Series

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Ever wonder what life is like in one of the busiest emergency rooms in our area? Now it's possible to see, without having an emergency.

"Behind The Medicine" is a five-part reality series is launching today on the web. It shows real life experiences inside Cooper University Hospital's Emergency Department. The documentary features patients and the care they receive, while addressing important national healthcare issues.

"They will see the different tiers that are necessary to have an emergency department work well, from technicians, nurses, secretaries, social workers, discharge planners, interpreters, to obviously the residents, nurses, faculty that actually administer the care," said Dr. Michael Chansky, Chief of the Emergency Department at Cooper University Hospital.

The hospital is addressing some of its own problems. To help with patient flow they've created a fast track area for less serious illnesses.

A new episode will be posted online every Thursday for the next few weeks.
