Police Have Description Of Suspect In Evesham Church Vandalism Incidents

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The vandalism at Catholic churches in Evesham Township, Burlington County has resulted in at least a few sightings of a suspect.

Police Lieutenant Walt Miller says three people who frequent the St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church on Willowbend Road reported seeing a man there on Thursday night, July 14th.

He is described as white male, 6-foot tall, in his late 20's or early 30's, with brown, shoulder-length hair. He was last seen driving a tan or beige, older model car, possibly an import, with square tail lights.

Police are not sure of a motive.

"We have no idea what it means. Obviously someone is focused on these statues and they have something set in their heads to vandalize them," Lt. Miller said.

Lt. Miller says the hands, face and head of Mary were damaged. The Joan of Arc statue was holding a sword and the sword was damaged.

Anyone with information on the vandalism or the suspect is urged to call police at 856-983-1116.
