Collingswood Celebrates Christmas In July With Free Cash

COLLINGSWOOD, NJ (CBS) - A South Jersey town is doing it again: giving away free cash.

There might be some snow and Santa, says Collingswood, New Jersey Mayor Jim Maley, because Friday, July 22nd, is the Christmas in July version of the wildly popular Collingswood Cash sale.

"You can purchase Collingswood Cash, which is the equivalent of a mall gift certificate that's good in any business in Collingswood. You buy $50 in Collingswood cash and you are given $10 free."

Mayor Maley says Collingswood is becoming more and more popular for its businesses and restaurants and the cash sale is designed to give more people the chance to enjoy them.

"You know, in these times, it's always difficult and everybody's looking for a little bit of a bargain and we think this is a great incentive to help folks come around to the town."

The sale begins 9 a.m. Friday at Borough Hall, and the Sun National Bank and First Colonial Bank.  For more information, go to Collingswood.com.
