Kids Get A Taste Of The High-Wire Life At Circus Camp In Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - 32 young people are enjoying themselves at an unusual summer camp in Germantown.

Kids are juggling plates, swinging in the air from trapeze and fabrics, tipping across tightwires and walking on stilts.  It's your average day at camp at the Philadelphia School of Circus Arts on Greene Street in Germantown.  Camp director Treacy Gallegher says kids love it.

"They've seen Cirque du Soleil and Barnum and Bailey, and it's exciting and they want to learn that."

"I like doing the balance stuff like the rolla-bolla," Nathaniel, 12, of Lafayette Hill said.

The students will put on their own circus performance at the end of the two-week camp.

"I like how to get to try all different things," Gallegher's daughter, 10-year-old Rylee said.

Rylee says it's great to go back to school and tell her friends what she's been doing this summer.
