During Dining Days, University City Is Fresh And Local

UNIVERSITY CITY, Pa (CBS) - University City District Dining Days are underway and, this year, the emphasis is on homegrown food.

The Clark Park Farmers Market is very popular with local residents (and with local restaurateurs) and for the 29 restaurants participating in Dining Days thru July 28th, local, fresh and sustainable food is what's important.

Mark Christman, communications manager with the University City district, says there's a lot to choose from, "There's really a remarkable diversity of opportunity here."

You can hear Karin Phillips interview with Mark Christman and Ben Merkle in this CBS Philly "Philly Scene' podcast…

RX Restaurant is at 44th and Spruce. General Manager Ben Merkle say the patrons are appreciating the change to local food, "People prefer that than anything else and it's become more of a movement than before."

Participating restaurants have set menus for $15, $25 and $30. Menus and participating restaurants can be found at UniversityCity.org/DiningDays.
