Rite Aid Offers $10,000 Reward In Mt. Airy Holdup

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Rite Aid is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of three men who robbed one of the chain's drug stores in the Mount Airy section of the city on Sunday night.

Surveillance video shows three men entering the store as employees are getting ready to close for the night.

Lt. George McClay of the Philadelphia Police Department's Northwest Detectives division says that once inside, the three pulled out guns, handcuffed employees, and took $3,000 in cash, plus lottery tickets, cigarettes, and cigars (see previous story).

And, McClay says, they roughed up the manager.

"He was handcuffed and he was ordered to open the safe, and he was hit in the face while he was doing it because he messed up the combination the first time," McClay told reporters.

McClay says the suspects are easily recognizable, and the reward from Rite Aid is good incentive to help police find them.

"Rite Aid is very serious about crimes like this, and they value their employees," he says.
