BLOG: Summer Sizzle

By Steven Strouss

Our fourth heat wave of the year is well underway today and will continue through Tuesday. A Heat Advisory has been issued for most of the region tomorrow afternoon, as temperatures soar into the upper 90s. Dewpoints will be high and Heat Index values will range from 100-105°. The record in Philadelphia for Tuesday is 97 degrees, set back in 1936, and I think we have a good chance of getting there. Be sure to stay in cool or shaded places, check on elderly, children and pets and of course drink plenty of water.

A cold front will pass by the area tomorrow evening and could trigger a thunderstorm in our northern zones. The front will also bring an end to the intense heat. After Wednesday, the rest of the week looks fantastic with sunshine, low humidity and more seasonable temps in the mid 80s. You definitely want to plan your outdoor activities Thursday through the Sunday as dry and nice conditions are forecasted.
