Home Video Report: Summer DVD Doldrums
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Very few items on this week's home video list other than what we might call "certified thrillers."
We begin with a real-life drama of eight French monks trying to live peacefully with their Muslim brothers in a North African monastery in the 1990's. The title: Of Gods and Men.
Insidious and Hobo With A Shotgun (photo) are two other thrillers, along with The Frankenstein Syndrome, a reimagining of the Mary Shelley story which ends up with the development of a serum that brings the dead back to life.
Then, from Blu-ray, there's Das Boot, dealing with German U-boats hunting British convoys in the North Atlantic during World War II.
And of a political nature, the 1960s series of The Making of the President, based on the popular books by Theodore H. White.
