Multiple Shootings, One Stabbing Reported Across Philadelphia

(PHILADELPHIA) CBS - Police reported at least five different tragic, violent incidents across the city from Friday night into Saturday morning.

Just after 2:00 a.m. Saturday morning a 24-year-old man, Dion Bennett of Philadelphia, was shot and killed at 67th and Buist Streets in Southwest Philadelphia. Police currently do not have a motive nor have they made any arrests in this shooting.

An hour later another man, 29-year-old Samuel Betancourt from Philadelphia, was shot and killed at Susquehanna and American Avenues in West Kensington. The motive in that shooting remains unclear.

On Friday night while police investigated the murder of 24-year-old Marceles Jefferson at Judson and Cambria Streets in North Philadelphia chaos broke out right around the corner. Police say a woman started chasing her boyfriend with a steak knife. When police told the woman to put down the knife she refused. Police then say an officer shot her. Investigators report the woman is in critical condition.

At Ruby Tuesday on Bartram Avenue in South Philadelphia a customer shot his gun. Police say a 38- year-old man went to pull out money from his pocket but accidentally pulled out his gun. The man shot himself in the groin.

And at 16th and Catharine Streets in South Philadelphia, police say 20-year-old man Benjamin Butcher was shot and killed by a man in a four-door gold sedan.

Police also found 58-year-old Ennis Manns stabbed at least six times inside a home at 50th and Market Streets in West Philadelphia. Officials say the he died at the hospital shortly after police found him.
