Law Enforcement Official Hospitalized, One Dead After Berks County Shooting
ALBANY, Pa. (CBS) — A Berks County Sheriff’s Deputy has been gravely injured and flown to a hospital from the scene of a shooting where another person died.
According to Pennsylvania State Police, the incident occurred at about 8 p.m. on 43 Pine Swamp Road in Albany Township.
Sheriff’s deputies were allegedly attempting to serve a warrant when gunfire erupted, according to initial reports.
Sources say a deputy coroner reported to the scene. Details surrounding the person who died have not been released.
The injured deputy was taken to Lehigh Valley Medical Center.
Officials on the scene will be holding a news conference shortly.
