Chemical Company Sponsors Fun Science Camp For Children

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Dow Chemical Company is sponsoring summer camps around the region to give kids an up close and personal view of science.

The kids at the Frankford Boys and Girls Club got very excited when they found out they were going to create slime.  And that's the whole idea, says John Buckley, global general manager of Dow Chemical, "When people say science, they roll their eyes. It's hard, it's boring, and it's not fun.  (Making) slime, what can be more fun? So it makes the connection that science is fun."

Kesaiya, 10, wants to be a doctor or a teacher and says she loves science, "I like that you can be creative and try new things and just have fun."

Dow is sponsoring three of these Camp Inventions throughout the region this summer.
