Deadly Police-Involved Shooting In North Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A deadly police-involved shooting in North Philadelphia is under investigation.

The incident happened at about 11 p.m. Monday night at 5th Street and Lehigh Avenue.

According to investigators, officers arrived at a gas station and saw a man on a bike shooting at a second person.

Police say the suspect then exchanged gunfire with officers.

“Police were right next to him in the gas station parking lot. 25th District officers fired several shots, struck the suspect two times in the torso,” Small explained.

Small said officers ordered the man to drop his weapon, but he reportedly refused to do so.

The 25-year-old who was wounded by police was admitted to Temple University Hospital where he later died.

A second suspect, an accomplice, fled on foot and remains at-large.

Linda and William, If it was your child getting shot at by the guy on the bike, would you really want the police to negotiate or worry about targeting black youth? For crying out loud, that neighborhood is predominately black! Get real you two.

Just a few yrs. ago, people became acustomed to shooting one another. The next progression was police shootings. It looks like the climate of 2007 has returned. Groups of teenagers attacked people on Broad street. People shooting one another, or shooting wildly into crowds.
