Md. Pair Sentenced For 2010 Montco Home Invasion In Which Crime Partner Was Killed

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBS) - Two Maryland men will spend at least ten years in state prison for their roles in a violent home invasion last year in Upper Gwynedd, Montgomery County.

Niochie Lawson and Jakal Stone, both in their early twenties, have pleaded guilty to robbery and several counts of unlawful restraint and were sentenced today to ten to twenty years behind bars.

Prosecutors say the two, along with a third suspect who was shot and killed by the homeowner, were lying in wait for the family to return to their home in the 100 block of Hancock Road.

The mother and three young children were hustled upstairs while homeowner Jermaine Edwards engaged the men in a gun battle.

"They had all the tools necessary to complete a very successful home invasion robbery," says prosecutor Samantha Cauffman of the robbers.  "But for the homeowner catching them by surprise and defending his family with force, this could have turned out very differently."

At the time of their arrest, prosecutors believed the men were in the area because they believed there was a large amount of money in the house.
