Cops: Bensalem Bus Driver ‘Visibly Intoxicated’ During Crash

BENSALEM, Pa. (CBS) – A Bensalem school bus driver has resigned after police say she appeared to be driving under the influence of alcohol during a crash earlier this month.

The crash happened June 15th at about 4 p.m. on Knights Road near Street Road.

According to police, a Bensalem school bus driver was traveling north on Knights Road approaching Street Road when the front of the bus struck a stopped vehicle.

Investigators say the driver of the school bus was interviewed and found to have exhibited signs of intoxication. The driver was later taken for a blood test to determine the amount of alcohol in her system. The results haven’t been released.

There were no children on the bus at the time of the accident. Neither the driver of the school bus nor the driver of the other vehicle was injured.

Investigators say charges could be filed in a week or two. Police say the driver has resigned from her job with the Bensalem School District.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
