Arena Football: Soul to Start Vena at QB Against Arizona on Saturday
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The Philadelphia Soul (5-9) will be at home on Saturday night, hosting Arizona in Arena Football League action.
The Soul are coming off a 48-42 loss to Tulsa. In that game, the Soul gave Brandon Kirsch his first start at quarterback, in place of Ryan Vena (see previous story).
But after a three-interception first half, Kirsch was pulled in favor of Vena, who responded with four second-half touchdown passes.
As for this week, Soul head coach Mike Hohensee (below right) reveals who they plan to start at quarterback:
Arizona is putting together a phenomenal campaign at 12-2, and they have impressed the Soul skipper.
“In my opinion, on film anyway, they are the best team I’ve seen so far this year,” Hohensee says. “Their quarterback, Nick Davila, does a great job controlling the offense. Not always a bunch of big plays, but he’s methodical, works the ball down the field, and has some nice receivers to go to.”
