Phillie Phanatic Hit By Foul Ball During IronPigs Game

ALLENTOWN, Pa. (CBS) - The Phillie Phanatic is recovering after he took a foul ball to his neck and had to go to the hospital last night.

The Phanatic was entertaining at the Phillies minor league affiliate in Allentown, the IronPigs. During the top of the third, he was behind the dugout when a line-drive foul ball hit him in the neck.

Now, anyone who knows the Phanatic knows that neck area is pretty important -- especially for the Phanatic's buddy Tom Burgoyne. His head is right there at the Phanatic's neck.

The IronPigs tweeted, "The Phanatic will not perform again tonight as a precautionary measure after being hit by a foul ball."

Borgoyne was taken to the hospital, where he was treated and released. The Phillies say the Phanatic is okay, and will be ready when the team returns to Citizens Bank Park tomorrow night.

This serves as a reminder, while the Phanatic makes us laugh, the life of a mascot's not all fun and games.
