Home Invasion Victim Hits Suspect With Frying Pan

NEW CASTLE, Del. (AP) -- New Castle County Police say a victim in a home invasion was able to hit the suspect several times with a frying pan and others detained him until police arrived.

Police say about 4:50 a.m. Saturday, a man pushed an air conditioner into an apartment and climbed in the window. The man, who was armed with a sawed-off shotgun and was wearing a mask, struggled with one of the residents.

Other residents went to their roommate's aid. One struck the suspect several times with a frying pay and was able to get the shotgun away from him. Her roommates held the man until police came.

Twenty-four-year-old Nathan Boykin of Wilmington has been charged with assault, burglary, attempted robbery and other offenses.
