Delaware Mother Charged After Toddler Found Wandering
NEWARK, Del. (AP) -- Police are charging a 23-year-old Newark woman with endangering the welfare of her child after the 3-year-old girl was found walking alone around the neighborhood.
New Castle County police announced Monday that Ericka Wilson had been arrested.
On Saturday afternoon, police were called to the area when a retired officer found the child wandering alone. Police searched the area for hours and contacted residents to locate her parents.
Investigators say Wilson apparently put her daughter down for a nap and then took a nap as well. She wasn't aware the child was missing until she was awakened by an officer knocking at the door.
