Dads Share Why They're Thankful They Are Fathers

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Every year we make sure to set aside a special day to honor dad. But what exactly makes a man a father?

Some would say it's taking the best of you, and putting it into another. Others see it as more of a teaching role.

Dad: "To be a mentor, to teach him different things to let him experience life, and give him opportunities."

While it may take awhile for children to appreciate the life lessons passed along from dad, many of the fathers we talked to were already thankful for what becoming a dad has done for them.

Dad: "There's no adjective I can use to describe it."

Dad: "The best thing I get is just the fulfillment of having two best friends."

While all the dads agreed that the birth of their children were highlights of their lives, some admitted being a little nervous when they first found out a little bundle of joy was on the way.

Dad: "When she told me she was pregnant, I was up all night, thinking I have to grow up."
